Who and what are the LEFT?

From the esteemed scholar, professor, and lecturer Victor Davis Hanson:

What is the Left, then? Mostly a Jacobin party that operates ad hoc, without consistency.

Its two guiding principles are now reduced to simple agendas.

One, nothing matters unless one has power. The means to obtain it are always after the fact justified by the supposedly noble ends they once served.

And two, what exactly are those noble ends? Or what unites the Google and Facebook zillionaires, the full professor of English, the Washington Post senior editor, Barack Obama, George Soros, the head of a major network, Harvey Weinstein, Robert De Niro, or Don Lemon?

It is a desire to sound off about mandated equality, but only as long as one has the resources to be unaffected by the necessary consequences of oneís loud egalitarian advocacy. As a general rule, the more one is insulated from the downside of oneís abstract progressivism, the louder and more vehemently he expresses it.

Move Nancy Pelosiís palazzo to sit on the border, subject Bill Gates to Bernie Sandersís wealth tax and his envisioned 70 percent income tax rate, have Dianne Feinstein or Gavin Newsom live in an inner-city neighborhood or make NBA stars follow Chinese rules of collective bargaining and state-mandated compensation, or subject Samantha Power, Bruce Ohr, John Brennan, and Andrew McCabe to federal indictments, and Barack Obama to the sort of impeachment charade we witnessed months ago, and we would not have what is now the progressive party.

Okay. "Progessive" is a bit far. But now I feel sick for calling myself a liberal.

And examine what "progressive" has meant in past epochs:

What you will find is that BOTH philosophies have been utterly decoupled from their etymological origins and corrupted into pure emotion-based FASCISM.

To be a generous, openhanded "liberal" and "not bound by authoritarianism, orthodoxy, or traditional forms..." is no bad thing at all!

In like manner to exhibit "making use of or interested in new ideas, findings, or opportunities...constituting an educational theory marked by emphasis on the individual child, informality of classroom procedure, and encouragement of self-expression..." is in and of itself no bad thing either, in fact it's evidence of free thinking.

It's when we get to the gist of today's perturbation of said that the trouble spot is identified, "believing in moderate political change and especially social improvement by governmental action..." that we start to see exaactly how this philosophy was destroyed.

Because today's proggies are in no way shape or form "moderate".

Words have meanings.

But today words are mere labels with revised definitive states underneath.

Chastise yourself not for being generous and open-minded, but treat with great suspicion those who favor change when they truly wish only power.

And THAT is the relatively short form answer to why the left has sold their well-intentioned constituents down the path to NO free speech, NO free thinking, and NO liberties nor Constitutional rights.

I speak this truth as a FREE AMERICAN and express the reality of our political schism today in AMERICA.

That the same thing appears to be happening just as riotously (pun intended) in the land of the Yuro-peons is of course confirmational that GLOBALISM is the infection medium being used to enslave us all.

I also offer NO specific commentary on South African politics and policies as my acumen thereon is meager at best.

Thank you for stepping back from emotion long enough to consider the thesis as presented.
