http://www.capetown.gov.za/Media-and-news/City%20to%20ask%20court%20for%20emergency%20hearing%20due%20to%20load-shedding%20crisis

Quote
The City of Cape Town intends seeking permission from the Judge President of the Gauteng High Court for an expedited hearing on its energy case asking the Minister of Energy and the National Energy Regulator of South Africa (NERSA) to allow it to buy energy from independent power producers (IPPs). The original hearing date is scheduled for May 2020.

The City is fighting for the right to buy cleaner energy directly from IPPs and to improve energy security. This move comes as the energy crisis in South Africa has reached a new peak.

The City maintains that it will be vital for the national government to open up the electricity generation environment if we are to restore security of power supply.

We simply cannot afford the devastation that load-shedding has had on our economy as a city and as a country.

It is vital that we future-proof our City to ensure that security of supply, and cleaner supply is enhanced. The City, therefore, wants a Section 34 determination in accordance with the New Generation Capacity Regulations in the Electricity Regulation Act to allow us to procure 150 MW of solar energy and 280 MW of wind energy from IPPs. While it will take time to procure this new capacity, the City wants to begin working on these alternatives as soon as possible.

If successful in our court challenge, the City would opt for a public tender and solicit proposals from IPPs in the future.

For the sake of our country’s economy, the entire electricity regime urgently needs to be restructured. The City is ready to be part of that change and move towards a low carbon, diversified and decentralised and secure energy system.

A VERY SPECIAL EDITION OF HELLO AFRICA!!!

We are very pleased to welcome back two friends of The Right Perspective. They are here to update us on the sad plight of the Boervolk, the present state of South Africa, and the Communist ANC!

Theuns Cloete founded Boervolk Radio in the 1990s and was one of the first stations to broadcast streams online in South Africa. Boervolk Radio was born out of the need for a news medium for the Boervolk. Theuns has been actively involved for decades in awakening the true identity of many in South Africa who regarded themselves as Afrikaners, because they have been brainwashed to do so. He has challenged many beliefs and ideologies of so-called leaders of Boers and Afrikaners. Theuns has magnificent knowledge of the Boervolk and his station has followers around the globe.

Theuns and Johann Jacobs from the UK became friends in 2008 after they got in touch and started discussing matters in South Africa and specifically the Boers. Although Johann has always been aware of his identity, he was not aware of the extent to which the Boervolk had been usurped by the Afrikaner - more so than those the Boers had actually fought physical wars against. Today Johann believes the Afrikaner is the Boers' greatest enemy!

...warning, heavy right perspective...

Two years on and the notion that SA was used as a social testing ground before the madness was exported to the US resonates in retrospective.

PORKED!.

JOHANNESBURG, South Africa — A South African company has been accused of falsely labeling meat products as halal, including pork, kangaroo meat from Australia, and water buffalo from India.

The allegations have created an uproar in South Africa's Muslim community. Under Islamic law, pork is not eaten, and animals must be slaughtered according to the halal way.

But Cape Town-based Orion Cold Storage said it was framed, with the company's employees bribed to switch products and labels. The company has laid criminal charges against two people for sabotage, blackmail and extortion, arguing that the scandal was created to benefit rival companies, the South African Press Association reported.

"The companies for which they work will stand to benefit substantially if Orion’s position in the market can be undermined," Orion said in a statement, according to SAPA.

Orion's director has reportedly faced death threats over the allegations of mislabeled meat.

South African Muslims make up just under than 2 percent of the country's total population of 49 million.

(CNN) — A South African wedding venue is facing criticism after the Christian owners declined to host a lesbian couple's wedding.
Megan Watling, 25, and Sasha-Lee Heekes, 24, said they contacted the owners of Beloftebos, a popular event place in Cape Town, inquiring about potential dates for their wedding.
However, they received an email response that the venue does not accommodate weddings between couples of the same gender, Watling and Heekes wrote on Facebook.
Watling said she cried and became overwhelmed with anger after reading the response last Friday.
"At first I cried, but then I was overwhelmed with anger," Watling wrote in her post.

Orthodox Christian beliefs

Beloftebos spokesman Micheal Swain told CNN the owners declined the couple's request because it contradicted their orthodox Christian beliefs that marriage should be between "one man and one woman."
Swain argued that the venue owners were not homophobic, and forcing them to host the nuptials also violates their rights to express their religious beliefs.
"LGBT rights do not trump religious rights under South Africa's constitution. The owners don't just rent out the venue, they are also actively involved in the arrangement, which they are simply saying they do not believe they can do in good conscience," Swain said.
The couple has complained about the venue to the South Africa Human Rights Commission (SAHRC). They will announce further actions to be taken on the matter, a spokesperson told CNN Monday.

Videos of the locust swarms reveal dense clouds of insects bombarding crops across East Africa as people turn to flee  in what has been called "the most serious outbreak of desert locusts in 25 years".

The UN has pleaded for international help to fight huge swarms of desert locusts sweeping through east Africa.

A spokesman for the UN's Food and Agricultural Organisation (FAO), called for aid to "avert any threats to food security, livelihoods, malnutrition".

One swarm in Kenya measured a staggering 37 miles long by 25 miles wide in the north-east of the country, according to the Intergovernmental Authority on Development (IGAD).

Quote
Farm attackers strangled a man, Timothy Rademeyer (51), with a scarf and cut his private parts with a sharp object in a barbaric attack that happened Tuesday night or in the early morning hours on Wednesday in the Welbekend area in Bapsfontein, Gauteng .

Timothy’s life partner, Dirkie Voges (61), was also seriously injured in the farm attack. The bloodied couple was found on Wednesday morning after Dirkie managed to walk to the nearest road.

A man, Mr Ian Jackson, saw Voges next to the road at around 0730 and drove to his cousin who is a paramedic and stays nearby. He and his cousin, Candice Allison, then drove to the farmhouse where a bloody scene awaited them.

They found Rademeyer with a scarf tied so tightly around his neck that they had to cut it off. Rademeyer had deep cuts to his arms, head and also private parts. Rademeyer and Voges were both also brutally beaten and kicked.

Voges sustained concussion and her ear drum has burst from the blows. Rademeyer was rushed to hospital in a critical condition.

Rudi says his mother and father stayed alone and that 4-6 black men were involved in the attack. The door was broken down to gain entry.

No arrests have been made and it is suspected the attackers fled in a Bantam bakkie.

'Ghost' ancestors: African DNA study detects mysterious human species
Will Dunham

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Scientists examining the genomes of West Africans have detected signs that a mysterious extinct human species interbred with our own species tens of thousands of years ago in Africa, the latest evidence of humankind’s complicated genetic ancestry.

The study indicated that present-day West Africans trace a substantial proportion, some 2% to 19%, of their genetic ancestry to an extinct human species - what the researchers called a “ghost population.”

“We estimate interbreeding occurred approximately 43,000 years ago, with large intervals of uncertainty,” said University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) human genetics and computer science professor Sriram Sankararaman, who led the study published this week in the journal Science Advances.

Homo sapiens first appeared a bit more than 300,000 years ago in Africa and later spread worldwide, encountering other human species in Eurasia that have since gone extinct including the Neanderthals and the lesser-known Denisovans.

Previous genetic research showed that our species interbred with both the Neanderthals and Denisovans, with modern human populations outside of Africa still carrying DNA from both. But while there is an ample fossil record of the Neanderthals and a few fossils of Denisovans, the newly identified “ghost population” is more enigmatic.

Asked what details are known about this population, Sankararaman said, “Not much at this stage.”

https://sputniknews.com/africa/202003141078567355-he-wreaked-havoc-in-palace-police-arrest-south-african-king-after-axe-rampage-report/

Quote
n 2015, King Buyelekhaya Dalindyebo, a nephew of late South African President Nelson Mandela, was sentenced to 12 years in jail for arson, aggravated assault, and kidnapping; he was granted parole late last year, in a move endorsed by the country’s incumbent president, Cyril Ramaphosa.
South African King Buyelekhaya Dalindyebo has been arrested after he reportedly went on an axe rampage at a royal palace in the Eastern Cape Province during the early hours of Friday.

Royal spokesman Prince Siganyeko Dalindyebo told the local public broadcaster SABC that the 56-year-old, who belongs to the traditional Thembu clan of late South African President Nelson Mandela, had broken into the palace “carrying weapons such as [an] axe, a machete, and also a crowbar”.

According to the spokesman, the king “managed to break a window from the sitting room of the main house”.

“As he was moving up the stairs looking for the acting king, some people managed to distract him and then the acting king managed to jump out of a window, running for safety. He has wreaked havoc in the palace […] he started ransacking the king's room, all confidential documents - he threw them around” before being detained by the police, the Prince asserted.
Matthew Mpahlwa, a royal advisor to Dalindyebo, for his part claimed that “the details of what happened upon his [the king’s] arrival in the royal palace remain sketchy”, adding that “allegations will remain allegations”.

The arrest comes amid tensions in the Thembu royal family which have been simmering since Buyelekhaya Dalindyebo’s release from jail last year.
